Acknowledgements

This work would not have been possible without the organizations and investigators who made these datasets publicly available in the first place.

JAEB Center for Health Research

JAEB Center for Health Research deserves particular recognition. Their long-standing commitment to hosting and maintaining publicly accessible clinical trial data — including datasets from studies funded by Breakthrough T1D, NIH, and HCT — has created the most valuable single repository of diabetes device data available to independent researchers. JAEB is a one-of-a-kind CRO: there is no other data source that provides this much diabetes data with this level of quality and ease of access, which is why all datasets currently supported by BabelBetes are sourced from their public diabetes dataset repository.

We are grateful for their support and their continued commitment to open data.

Study Investigators and Sponsors

The medical device companies and academic groups whose trial data is represented in this pipeline also deserve acknowledgement. The decision to release granular device data from regulatory-grade clinical trials is not trivial, and the research community benefits directly from it.

A Note on Open Data

It is our hope that BabelBetes demonstrates the value that can be unlocked when clinical data is made accessible and well-documented, and that it serves as an argument for continued and expanded data sharing in the field of type 1 diabetes research.
